Ballot Initiatives

MISSOURI

Missouri’s politicians have failed to live up to a high ethical standard, and the result has been waves of scandals and a flood of dark money into state politics. Missourians won’t stand for it anymore.

The Clean Missouri Initiative is designed to:

  • Put into place fair, reasonable contribution limits
  • Close loopholes where millionaires can skirt limits through pass-through committees
  • End the whopping amount of lobbyist gifts to politicians
  • Stop the revolving door that lets politicians become lobbyists shortly after their term ends

SOUTH DAKOTA

After voters passed a comprehensive set of ethics reforms in 2016, the Republican-led legislature declared an illegitimate “emergency” to prevent the law from taking force. But South Dakotans aren’t backing down. They’re coming back with a proposed constitutional amendment to end this abuse of power and to get government back to its job of serving the people – not special interests.

South Dakota’s Amendment W is designed to:

  • Protect voter-approved laws from legislative interference
  • Ban foreign money in South Dakota politics
  • Ban campaign money from union and corporations to candidates and political parties
  • Ban politicians from using state resources for personal gain

NORTH DAKOTA

In study after study, North Dakota has ranked among the most corrupt states in the nation. That’s why North Dakotans across the political spectrum have joined together in a grassroots effort to amend their state’s constitution and ensure ethical government.

The North Dakota Anti-Corruption Amendment will:

  • Affirm the voters’ right to know the original source of all money raised or spent to influence elections
  • Ban foreign money in North Dakota politics
  • Stop public officials from serving as lobbyists\
  • Create an independent, non-partisan ethics commission to enforce these rules
